You were right!  Not all paper is created equal and don't let anyone tell you differently!  

To work through them all without needing a second mortgage, you can try a  paper testing set.   

Volume 3 :

This volume is  rerun of the fountain pen heroes consisting of a

1 x  A6 grid - Life Pistachio notebook ( smooth white paper that can handle juicy nibs and show of sheening inks)

1 x A6 grid MD notebook.(very slightly textured paper that can handle most fountain pen inks and nibs)
