A drawing pencil with a reputation. 

This handsome pencil is made of Cedar wood and Japanese graphite.  

The 'Matte' pencil is the softest Blackwing pencil in the range. There is no official 'B' rating, but is considered to close to a 3 or 4B pencil. It is ideal for drawing.  If for no other reason, get it because is looks ever so 'fêncy'.

'Matte' is now joined by his elegant sister, Pearl. 

'Pearl' is estimated to be a 2B,   This begs the question.  2B or not 2B? Yup. I went there.  It is also called their balanced lead. 

'Blackwing 602' has a firm 'B-ish' lead. Strong, but firm.

Firstly the Pearl is a beautiful looking pencil. Looks very luxurious. The lead is very smooth. Firmer than the Matte but still nice and soft.

The limited edition 200 is a beautiful pencil. The rose gold ferrule just puts it in another class. Also very smooth on paper.
